The On Demand Public Transportation program is a convenient and affordable way for older adults to access public transit services. Riders can enjoy the flexibility of scheduling rides based on their needs, with the option to request shared rides for added cost-effectiveness. The program charges a flat fee based on the distance traveled, ensuring transparent pricing for riders. To utilize this program, older adults are required to schedule their trips a few days in advance, with a minimum notice period of 72 hours for public trips. By booking their transportation by 3:00 pm the day before the trip, riders can secure curb-to-curb transportation services within the county at a fixed rate. For journeys outside the county, the program offers competitive pricing at $0.80 cents per mile, offering older adults a cost-effective way to travel. Overall, the On Demand Public Transportation program provides older adults with a reliable and accessible means of transportation, fostering independence and mobility within their communities.
