The Transportation Assistance Program is designed to provide convenient and affordable transportation options for older adults in the community. Riders have the opportunity to contribute a suggested voluntary donation for each one-way ride, which helps support the program's operations. The donation ranges between $2 for local rides and $4 for trips to specific destinations like Boston or the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Riders are required to schedule their rides a few days in advance to ensure availability. The program offers shared van rides, allowing multiple passengers to travel together, which not only promotes social interaction but also reduces costs. The transportation service provided is door-to-door, offering older adults a seamless and comfortable travel experience from their homes to their desired destination and back. Overall, the Transportation Assistance Program provides older adults with a reliable and accessible means of getting around the community, enabling them to attend medical appointments, grocery shopping, social outings, and more.
