The Rural Shared Ride Service is a convenient transportation program designed for older adults residing in rural areas. This service allows older adults to schedule shared rides via bus or train at least one day in advance, providing flexibility and reliability for their transportation needs. With a pricing structure based on a co-pay averaging 15% of the trip cost, the program offers affordable transportation options for older adults in these areas.
To utilize this program, older adults can make reservations up to 14 days in advance, ensuring they have transportation secured for their appointments and activities. The program also accommodates out of county trips, with a requirement to schedule these rides at least two days prior to the appointment time. Additionally, riders are allowed to travel with service animals, promoting inclusivity and accessibility for older adults with specific needs.
Accepted payment methods for the Rural Shared Ride Service include checks, pre-payment, credit cards, and cash, providing older adults with various options to pay for their transportation services. By offering shared rides, this program not only promotes cost-effectiveness but also creates a social and communal aspect to traveling, allowing older adults to connect with others in their community.
