Please make sure to contact Whitley County Council on Aging: Whitley County Transit to confirm details of their transportation services.
Provides rides for any purpose, to all people, and no membership is required.
Whitley County Transit is a public transportation program that offers rides for older adults within the county and beyond. The program operates on a pricing structure based on the distance traveled, with affordable rates for different mileage ranges. Veterans can benefit from a subsidized fare for out-of-county trips, thanks to the support of the Community Foundation of Whitley County.
For older adults aged 60 and above, there are specific provisions in place. Working seniors aged 60 and above pay the regular rates, while older adults aged 60 and above within Whitley County can donate as a fare for their rides. No one is refused service based on their ability to donate.
To request a ride, older adults are required to schedule their trips a few days in advance. Payment can be made by check or cash, offering flexibility to riders. The program provides shared rides to optimize convenience and cost-effectiveness for passengers. For added convenience, door-to-door and curb-to-curb transportation options are available, ensuring that older adults can access the transportation they need efficiently and comfortably.
